Callinectes exasperatus (Gerstaecker, 1856)

Material examined (N=8). 1f, 19/IX/2000, 13°57’05”S / 38°59’68”W ( MZUESC #57); 1f, 30/X/2004, St. 0 4 ( MZUESC #686).

Distribution. Western Atlantic – Bermuda, Florida, Gulf of Mexico, Antilles, Colombia, Venezuela, and Brazil (from Pará to Santa Catarina) ( Melo 1996; Barros & Pimentel 2001).

Ecological notes. In high-salinity and estuarine waters near river mouths and mangroves. Shallow waters to 8 m ( Melo 1996).
