TYPE LOCALITY: Brazil, Minas Gerais, Lagoa Santa .
DISTRIBUTION: S Brazil in Minas Gerais and probably coastal forests from S Bahia to Rio de Janeiro.
SYNONYMS: armatus Winge, 1887 .
COMMENTS: According to Cabrera (1961:540) Phyllomys brasiliensis is a nomen nudum. Emmons and Feer (1990:220) recognized as Nelomys sp. , stating that the correct name for brasiliensis is not clear.
