Remarks. According to Cook (1986), the peg-bearing tubercle of PIV should be nearly as long as the longest of the other tubercles. In my opinion this is not correct. I examined the two syntypes, lodged in Basel. The slide with the female is in very poor condition, the slide of the male is in good condition, although the fourth pair of legs is missing. The longest tubercle is 1.5 times as long as the peg-bearing tubercle. Also in all my specimens, the peg-bearing tubercle is shorter than the longest tubercle. The longest tubercle is about 1.6 – 1.8 times as long as the peg-bearing tubercle. Unionicola longiseta is a widespread species, known from Tasmania, Victoria, Queensland, New Caledonia and New Zealand. It is reported here for the first time from Western Australia and New South Wales.
