Third instar. Body: length 50.0–55.0 mm, width (prothorax) 9.0 mm; covered with tiny, stout setae ( Fig. 9 View FIGURE 9 c); prosternal setae absent. Primary setal pattern: 3 HPA, 0 PD, 3 PSL, 0 MSD, 2 MSL, 0 MTD, 1–2 MTL, 0 TM, 1 TSM, 1 TL, 1 AV9 ( Table 2 View TABLE 2 ). Head: without uniform pile of short, golden setae; width of head capsule 7.0 mm. Epicranial suture short; frontal sutures extend to base of antennae ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 g). Mandibles with micro-asperities in the ventral base. Maxillary stipes with 22 micro-conical projections ( Figs. 2 View FIGURE 2 g, h). Legs: pars stridens (mesocoxae) length 776.29 µm, width 498.24 µm, distance into striate 13.97 µm, 55 striae; mesocoxae and metacoxae with 2 internal setae. Metathoracic legs with some short lateral setae (side of I tooth) and micro-asperities in the posterior areas; anterior margin with 6 teeth, I and III–VI well developed and gradually decreasing in size, II is the smallest tooth ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 g). Abdomen: raster with setae; anal ring with 15–16 setae; anal slit T-shaped ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 g).
Pupa. Body: length 40.0 mm, width (prothorax) 17.0 mm. Body shape elongate, oval, stout, exarate, creamwhite ( Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 ). Head visible in dorsal view. Antennae, labrum, mandibles, maxillae, maxillary palpi, and compound eyes discernible ( Figs. 6 View FIGURE 6 a, c). Thorax: elytral and posterior wing pads closely juxtaposed curved ventrally around body, extending to the middle of abdominal segment V ( Figs. 6 View FIGURE 6 a, b). Abdomen: segment VIII visible under dorsal view and well defined ( Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 a), but 10 are considered to exist, abdominal segments IX and X related to genitalia formation; segments IV–VIII in ventral view well defined ( Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 c); segment X with small genital ampulla ( Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 d); spiracle I elongate, with fine peritreme and covered by wing pads; spiracles II–III oval, prominent, with strongly sclerotized peritreme; spiracle IV–VII with fine peritreme. Spiracle VII smaller than the others. Abdominal apex rounded.
Distribution. Endemic species of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Colombia ( Boucher 2006). Material examined. COLOMBIA, MAGDALENA, Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Sector Bella Vista, 11°05'46''N 74°04'51.7''W, 1560 m, 28.iv.2007. L. Jiménez & A. Mejía (12 specimens).
