Type :— ARGENTINA. ‘ In pratis sabulosis siccioribus prope S. Julián, vere 1899 ( C. A.)’ [ C. Ameghino s.n.] (holotype: LP 000134 !; isotype: LP 000135 !). Iconography: Freire et al. (2014: 134) .

Note: — Senecio julianus differs from species of S. ser. Culcitium by its erect capitula and echinate pollen. Further studies are required to determine its taxonomic position.
