Distribution and Habitat ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 ): — Senecio otophorus occurs in the páramos of Colombia, and Ecuador, at elevations of 3000–4300 m.
Note — Cuatrecasas (1944) described Senecio yacuanquensis , distinguishing it from S. ophorus by the absence of auricles in its leaves. After studying in detail S. yacuanquensis type material, we conclude that it has auriculate leaves. For this reason, S. yacuanquensis is here considered synonymous with S. otophorus .
