Micronoctua occi Fibiger & Kononenko, 2008
( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1 – 8 )
Micronoctua occi Fibiger & Kononenko, 2008 , Zootaxa 1890: 52, figs 1, 2, 7, 10 (Type-locality: Russia, Primorye terr., Gornotaezhnoe).
Material examined. 1 male, 1 female, China, Liaoning Prov., Qian-shan Mts., 12–14 viii 2007 (H.L. Han).
Diagnosis. M. occi is the smallest species of Noctuoidea in the Far East. It differs from other Chinese Micronoctuidae by smaller size (wingspan, 10,5 – 11 mm), pale yellowish -grey forewing colour with contrasting brown subterminal area, narrow rectangular spot in basal and central parts of the costal area and dark -brown outer area of wing with brown fringe. The genitalia of both sexes described and illustrated by Fibiger & Kononenko (2008) and Kononenko (2010).
Bionomics. Mesophilous, rather rare species. It has been collected in early-mid August in rich, moist mountane broad-leaved and mixed forest in elevation 200– 300 m. The larva and its foodplants are unknown.
Distribution. Manchurian, nemoral species, described on the basis of large series from Russian Far East (Primorie terr.), South Korea, Japan (Tsushima Isl.) and from South and Central China (Prov. Guandong, Fujian, Zhejiang, Shanxi), The record of this species in the Prov. Liaoning, Northeast China significantly extens its range northward in China. The species has been found also in mainland of Japan (Honshu, vicinity of Fuju Mt.) ( Akihiko 2009).
