Differs from Botrypus in having long-stalked fertile spikes borne near the base of the petioles, and evergreen leaves (see under Botrypus ). Unlike Botrychium and Botrypus , leaves may lack fertile stalks.A primarily northern hemisphere genus of about 25 species.
