Replaced synonym of: Bursera gummifera L. (1762), nom. illeg.

Lectotype (Wijnands, Bot. Commelins: 55. 1983): [icon] “ Terebinthus major, betulae cortice, fructu triangulari ” in Sloane, Voy. Jamaica 2: 89, t. 199, f. 1, 2. 1725. – Typotype: Herb. Sloane 6: 104, 105 (BM-SL).

Current name: Bursera simaruba (L.) Sarg. (Burseraceae).

Note: Fawcett & Rendle (Fl. Jamaica 4: 206. 1920) indicated material in Herb. Sloane (BM-SL) as type but as this was not seen by Linnaeus, it is not original material for the name.
