Callida terminata Waterhouse, 1876: 11 (type locality: Borneo, Sarawak; lectotype deposited in NHML); Stork, 1986: 16.

Type material examined: Lectotype designate herein, male, “Type H. T.”, “ Sarawak ”, “ Callida terminata C. Waterh. (Type) ” (NHML, fig. 44 View FIGURES 44–47 ).

Non-type material examined: one female, "Borneo", "Frey Coll., 1905.100" ( NHML); one female, "46370", "Borneo", "Frey Coll., 1905.100"; " terminata Waterh. " ( NHML).

Notes on type material. The original publication ( Waterhouse, 1876) didn’t state or imply this species was based on a single specimen, although it seems so. According to the Recommendation 73F and Article 74.6 of ICZN, we designated a lectotype herein rather than assume a holotype.

Diagnosis. With the character states of the Calleida terminata species group, but distinct from the two other species of this group by the following character combination: medium sized (L: 10.5 mm). Head and pronotum strongly metallic green or cupreous; elytra metallic green with wide cupreous metallic refection on apical and lateral regions; antennae, palpomeres, lateral furrows of pronotum, coxae and tarsi reddish; femora and underside strongly metallic green. Pronotum with deep transverse wrinkles. Elytra with outer apical angle acutely prominent apically. Median lobe of aedeagus in lateral aspect with ventral margin completely straight beyond the main ventral lobe; endophallus with one chitinized piece.

This species can be easily recognized among all Asiatic Calleida species for the fully metallic green colour and the very shiny body on both the dorsal and the ventral side. For comparison with C. viet Casale & Shi sp. n. described below see diagnosis of C. viet sp. n. and key to species.

Description. General features as in fig. 44 View FIGURES 44–47 . Medium-large sized species: L: 10.5; TL: 10.0. (male holotype). Body relative wide, elytra sub-depressed, slightly widened at the apical third.

Colour: head, pronotum, femora, tibiae, and ventral side bright metallic green; palpi, antennae, basal half of mandibles, lateral furrows of pronotum, coxae and trochanters reddish; first antennomere with weak metallic green reflection. Head with two distinct reddish spots on vertex. Elytra metallic green, with wide reddish purple reflection on the lateral and pre-apical regions; suture, lateral margin and epipleura metallic green.

Lustre and microsculpture: dorsal side very shiny and polished. Microsculpture composed of isodiametric meshes, almost vanished on head, invisible on pronotum, distinct on elytral intervals.

Head wide, flat, smooth; genae markedly constricted to the neck; frontal foveae shallow, sub-striate in front, ending in a rounded depression on each side behind; eyes prominent, hemispherical; antennae reaching backwards the basal sixth of elytra.

Pronotum flat, cordate, wider than the head, barely wider than long (PW/PL: 1.08); posterior margin bisinuate, wider than anterior margin. Disc with deep transverse wrinkles. Anterior angles rounded, lateral margins reflexed, rounded anteriorly and sinuate posteriorly. Posterior angles reflexed and projecting laterally, sharply pointed but obtuse at apex; median furrow deep, shallower near apex; the deep basal foveae, starting from near the posterior angles, extend anteriorly on each side, becoming gradually shallower, and disappearing near anterior angles.

Elytra: sub-depressed, wide (EL/EW: 1.67), shallowly and transversely depressed on each side behind base, slightly dilated near the apical third. Shoulders rather square, sides slightly compressed at basal third; apex obliquely truncate; outer apical angles acutely prominent apically, apex sharp. Striae fine and shallow, with fine punctures, very shallow near apex, stria l much deeper near apex; intervals slightly convex, flat on disc, interval 3 with two pores at one fourth and near apex, interval 8 dilated near apex into a smooth rounded callosity.

Underside: Abdominal sternum VII in male deeply notched at middle and with one seta on each side in males; straight and with two setae on each side in females.

Legs: Tarsi with the fourth tarsomere strongly bilobed, in male pro- and mesotarsi with the three basal tarsomeres clothed beneath with two rows of adhesive hairs.

Male genitalia: median lobe of aedeagus ( fig. 45 View FIGURES 44–47 ) slightly bent; middle of right side strongly dilated in dorsal and ventral aspect, forming a short lobe, straight in lateral aspect; ventral margin with a very developed and prominent ventral lobe, approximately triangular shaped; ventral margin completely straight beyond the main ventral lobe; apical lamina flat and short, rounded at apex; endophallus with single short and narrow chitinized piece, curved at apex. Left paramere wide, depressed on the dorsal side; right paramere a little protruded at apex. ( fig. 46 View FIGURES 44–47 )

Female genitalia: not examined.

Geographical distribution and habitat. Only known from Borneo ( Sarawak) in tropical forests ( map 4 View MAP 4 ).
