[5] Calleida jelineki Casale & Shi View in CoL , sp. n.
Type locality: S. India: Coimbatore.
Type material: Holotype, female, "S. India Coimbatore Nathan ”, “ fukiensis det. Ing. Jedlička”, “ Call . jelineki n. sp. Holotypus ♀ 1997 A. Casale det.” [in litt.] (NMPC, fig. 42 View FIGURES 42–43 ). Paratypes: one female, “Samanahally près Bangalore R. B. Tabourel IV. V.1899 ”, “ Call . jelineki n. sp. Paratypus ♀ A. Casale & H. Shi det. 2016” ( MNHN); one female, “E. Ind[ia]”, “ Call . jelineki n. sp. Paratypus ♀ A. Casale & H. Shi det. 2016” ( NHML).
Notes on the type material. The holotype of this new species was misidentified by Jedlička, as it appears by the identification label, as C. fukiensis described by himself.
Specific epithet. This new species is dedicated to our friend and colleague Josef Jelínek, well known coleopterist and former curator at the Entomological Department of the National Museum in Prague, for his invaluable help over many years to one of the authors (A.C.) in examination of entomological material in that museum.
Diagnosis. With the character states of Calleida of the lativittis species group, but distinct from the two other species of this group by the following character combination: elytra very elongate and narrow (EL/EW 1.87), parallel sided, subconvex; elytra metallic blue greenish, without discal reddish patch, with the only sutural interval reddish; femora darkened at about apical fourth, all antennomeres reddish brown; pubescence reduced to a few, short, hardly visible setae on abdominal sterna, and a few, short setae at the base of pronotal disc.
The new species is similar to C. lativittis Chaudoir , but easily distinguishable by the pronotum narrower in front, with lateral sides less sinuate in front of the basal angles, which are obtuse, not prominent outside, the femora darkened only at apex, and by other characters specified in description.
Description. General features as in fig. 42 View FIGURES 42–43 : Medium sized: L: 8.5 mm; TL: 8.0 mm. Body elongate and slender, parallel sided; elytra subconvex.
Colour: head, pronotum, lateral margins and epipleura of elytra, underside, antennae and legs rufous; femora blackish at about apical fourth; elytra metallic blue greenish, without reddish patch on disc, with only sutural interval reddish.
Lustre and microsculpture: shiny; head with vanished microsculpture; pronotum mostly without distinct microsculpture, except some fine transverse meshes on disc and on middle part of the basal area; elytra with distinct microsculpture in isodiametric meshes.
Head wide, subconvex, narrower than pronotum, smooth or with some oblique frontal wrinkles between the frontal foveae; frontal foveae very shallow. Genae rather short and convex; eyes large and prominent.
Pronotum cordate, narrow (ratio PW/PL: 1.07), with lateral furrows widened in the basal fourth. Disc with shallow transverse wrinkles and several fine punctures; a few short pubescence present on the base of pronotal disc. Lateral sides slightly reflexed, rounded in the anterior half, slightly sinuate in the basal sixth. Anterior angles effaced, each with 8–10 setae. Basal foveae short but deep. Basal margin oblique at sides, basal angles obtuse.
Elytra elongate and narrow (EL/EW: 1.87), parallel sided. Striae very deep, finely punctate; intervals convex in the posterior half, deeply punctate, without pubescence; eighth interval not tumid near the apex. Umbilicate series of 15 pores along eighth stria. Apical truncation straight; outer apical angle not thickened, rounded.
Ventral side: abdominal sterna with sparse and short pubescence; abdominal sternum VII with four (two on each side) setae in female; apical margin of abdominal sternum VII straight in female.
Male genitalia: unknown.
Female genitalia (reproductive tract and ovipositor, fig. 43 View FIGURES 42–43 ):spermatheca digitiform, much longer than the pedicel, with very short basal projection; surface faintly and finely whorled; spermathecal pedicel short, with basal half expanded, apical half slender; spermathecal gland duct inserted at base of the projection, long and slender, a little longer than spermatheca; glandular area inflated, about one eight length as gland duct. Gonocoxite II of ovipositor sub-rectangular, as long as three times of the basal width; base slightly wider than apex; inner margin with several setae, extending from the basal third to apex; outer margin distinctly curved at middle, only slightly setose in the apical third; apex obliquely truncate, with irregular membranous extension on the outer part.
Geographical Distribution and habitat. S. India: Coimbatore, Bangalore, “E India ” ( map 3 View MAP 3 ). No data are available on the habitat where specimens were sampled.
