PARALECTOTYPE (J): ‘Perez / Type [hw] // Brancsik / 1891 [hw] // TYPUS [p, red label] // neglectus / Perez Escuria [hw, black margin] // Paralectotypus / Rhizotrogus neglectus / Perez Arcas, 1865 / det. A. Bezděk & J. Hájek, 2010 [p, red label]’.

Current status. Valid species.

Remark. PEREZ ARCAS (1865) described this species from an uknown number of specimens of both sexes. He stated on p. 417: ‘Se encuentra este insecto en el Escorial, donde lo he cogido varias veces en los meses de agosto y setiembre’ [= This insect is distributed in Escorial,

where I collected it several times in August and September]. COCA- ABIA & MARTÍN- PIERA (1998) designated a lectotype (male) and two paralectotypes (male and female) from the syntype series found in the collection of Perez Arcas, currently deposited in Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales de Madrid. Because there is no doubt about the authenticity of the specimen deposited in NMPC, we have labelled it as an additional paralectotype.
