Remarks.

See the remarks in Breure and Ablett (2012) about the type status of the specimens and the relation with Bulimus physodes Menke, 1843. B.J. Smith (1992: 105) has synonymized Menke’s taxon with Bothriembryon melo (Quoy and Gaimard, 1832); E.A. Smith (1894: 95) mentioned several differences between the two taxa and gave Menke’s taxon full species status. We tentatively follow the opinion of B.J. Smith, but further studies are needed to solve the systematic arrangement of both taxa.
