Oreiallagma von Ellenrieder & Garrison, 2008 View in CoL

Two of the five known species occur in Ecuador. Adults are mainly blue and black, of medium size with an elongate abdomen ( Fig. 26 View FIGURE 26 ); young adults are reddish brown. The latest taxonomic treatment was by von Ellenrieder & Garri- son (2008a). Little is known about the habitat, but at least one species was found to breed in water-filled bromeliads, at relatively high elevations.

ECU: Kimmins (1970), Paulson (1983), Davies & Tobin (1984), Tsuda (1986, 1991), all as Leptagrion prothoracium, Steinmann (1997a—as Teleagrion prothoracicum ) (P11), (H14); IM: * Kimmins (1945 —as T. prothoracicum , Holotype & Paratype: “Intag”, [Apuela, NE on Apuela- Cuicocha Road, along Río Intag and tributaries between 1800–2800m ( 0.358817, -78.450904) at jct of Río Intag and tributary], examined by RWG [BMNH]), Bridges (1993), von Ellenrieder & Garrison (2008a — assigned to Oreiallagma ).
