Diagnosis. Wing hyaline, veins tan. Male: 9 th tergite with a long stout dorsal projection. Gonarcus protruding as cone-shape distally; a distinct ventral process, base slightly sclerotized. Paramere arcuate, fused at base.
Description. Head. Vertex ochreous. Ocelli yellowish; ocellar triangle black. Eye slightly grey. Antenna dark brown; antennal socket membrane yellowish. Frons ochreous, black stipe connecting with antennal base. Labrum brown, black at base. Labial palp and maxillary palp brown. Thorax. Pronotum with a yellowish spot posteriorly. Meso- and metanotum with long, yellow setae. Legs yellow with long brown setae. Wings ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1–4 ). Forewing length 29.8 mm, width 9.2 mm. Wing broad, membrane hyaline, some diffuse tan spots along margin; pterostigma brown, with yellow patches; nygmata brown; veins tan; Rs with 16 branches; MP fork present between the separation of MA from Rs and the first branch of Rs; branches CuP of and A1 interlinked by some veinlets. Hindwing length 27.4 mm, width 7.8 mm; membrane hyaline; pterostigma and nygmata brown. Male terminalia ( Figs 22–26 View FIGURES 22–26 ). 8 th tergite relatively broad; 8 th sternite quadrate; scent gland with dark reservoirs and membranous evaporative lobe not extend out of the tergum [in preserved specimen]; 9 th tergite narrow with a distinct stout dorsal projection, bent posteriorly; 9 th sternite quadrate; ectoproct small and papillary, callus cerci large and round; distal part of gonarcus well-sclerotized in lateral view, two pairs of processes in ventral view; baculum slender and bent at base, articulate with the gonarcus; paramere arcuate, fused at base, margin well-sclerotized and the remainder membranous.
Material examined. Holotype Male. CHINA: Henan (Province): Luanchuan (county), Longyuwan (Forest Park), 1015m. Light trap. 19.VII.2004, leg. Bingzhen Yan. Verbatim label data (translated from Chinese): CHINA: Henan, Longchuan, Longyuwan/ 19.VII.2004 / 1015m, light trap / Bingzhen Yan / CAU. Condition: Excellent. Terminalia cleared in KOH, and stored in the microvial pinned below the specimen.
Etymology. The specific name refers to the long stout fingerlike dorsal projection of the 9 th tergum, which is the compound of the Latin pachy - (thick) and caudatus (tailed).
Remarks. The new species show some distinctive autapomorphic characters such as the large paired processes on 9 th tergite and arcuate parameres.
