Species recognition. This species is similar to the Central American D. uniplicata , but D. notoplicata has a longer, more pointed flagellomere 1, and a small concavity ventral to the most distal peglike setae, displacing them dorsally.
Description. Body length: 1.78–2.19 mm. Head: Frons brown, ocellar triangle darker, second row of setae straight. Flagellomere 1 pyriform, brown. Palpus of normal size, yellow. Thorax: Scutum light brown. Scutellum dark brown, with 2 pairs of setae; anterior seta one-half length of posterior seta. Pleuron with proepisternum and dorsum of anepisternum dark brown, rest of pleuron light brown. Mean costal length 0.51 wing length, range 0.49–0.53. Halter yellow. Legs yellowish-brown. Forecoxa in lateral view yellow. Foretibia with 4 dorsal setae. Foretarsomeres slender, elongate. Midcoxa light brown. Hind coxa yellow. Hind coxal lobe yellow, only slightly developed. Posterior face of hind femur with basal group of peglike setae; distalmost setae separated from ventral margin of hind femur by small concavity; more distally with single large rounded carinate white membranous area ( Figs 269–270). Abdomen: Abdominal tergite 1 light brown, tergites 2–6 brown, tergite 2 yellow anteriorly and all tergites with yellow posterior margin. Venter of abdomen whitishgray, with few setae, larger on posterior margin of segment 5. Male terminalia dark brown, except cercus yellow.
Distribution. Brazil and Colombia.
Derivation of specific epithet. From Greek notos for “southern” combined with part of the name D. uniplicata , the most similar species.
