Species recognition. The peglike setae of the hind femur of this species are arranged around a shallow concavity, differing from the arrangement in other D. castaneicoxa -group species.

Description. Body length: 1.72–2.19 mm. Head: Frons dark brown, second row of setae strongly concave. Flagellomere 1 rounded-oval, brown. Palpus of normal size, yellow. Thorax: Scutum brown. Scutellum dark brown, with 2 pairs of setae; anterior seta three-quarters length of posterior seta. Pleuron with anepisternum and proepisternum brown, rest of pleuron light brown. Mean costal length 0.55 wing length, range 0.53–56. Halter yellow. Legs yellowish-brown. Forecoxa in lateral view whitish-yellow. Foretibia with 4 dorsal setae. Foretarsomeres slender, elongate. Midcoxa brown. Hind coxa whitish-yellow. Hind coxal lobe light brown, round. Posterior face of hind femur with basal line and short ascending group of peglike setae surrounding shallow concavity ( Figs 87–88). Abdomen: Abdominal tergite 1 brown, tergites 2–6 dark brown. Venter of abdomen gray, with few setae, larger on posterior margin of segment 5. Male terminalia with epandrium yellowish-brown, hypandrium brown, and cercus yellow.

Distribution. Costa Rica.

Derivation of specific epithet. Named for one of the localities where specimens were collected.
