Remarks

With the increase in taxonomic sophistication in the Amphipoda over the last one and a half centuries, it is unavoidable that some of the earlier records from India will prove to be incorrect. This catalogue lists the names of all marine amphipods recorded from the Indian subcontinent so that researchers may follow the thread of amphipod records. Within the taxonomic list are species that are also probably incorrectly identified and their inclusion as Indian species is uncertain. These are clearly indicated with remarks in the list. Where identifications are clearly incorrect these have been omitted from the list and included in Table 1 .
