Type species: Chrysomela quadripunctata Linnaeus, 1758 .
Diagnosis. The genus Clytra can be recognized by the following character states: body similar in both sexes, cylindrical, generally robust; head and ventral side more or less pubescent, mandibles short, eyes large and oblong; antennae short; pronotum of variable shape, generally transverse, posterior angles of pronotum not elevated; elytra without produced epipleural lobes, epipleura not pubescent; legs robust, tarsi broad; last ventrite of the male generally with a smooth surface in the middle, while in the female with a fovea.
