Canthocamptus brevipes sp. nov. – Sars ( 1863 a): 24, type locality is not known. Moraria brevipes Sars, 1863a – Sars ( 1911): 206 – 207; Sars ( 1921): 57; Hessen and Stene ( 1991): 162 – 165.

Sars ( 1863 a, 1911) found just a few specimens in a small, shallow lake near Oslo. He subsequently found this species also in Lake Vansjø, Østfold County, Eastern Norway (Sars 1921).

Hessen and Stene ( 1991) reported this species from a small rock basin near Kristiansund, Western Norway.
