It is important to report that the first author spent 20 years in French Guiana, gathering all the collecting data from more than 700 collectors and concluding that Colobothea hirtipes ( Degeer, 1775) View in CoL appears to be the most common species of the genus (218 collecting data representing 348 specimens, of which 48.2% are males). This species is related to many identified host plants, belonging to several botanic families:

Adults of C. hirtipes show cathemeral activity throughout the year with a small peak in August-September.
