Species Fossa fossana (Müller 1776)

Discussion: Veron (1995) and Gaubert et al. (2002 b) suggested that Fossa could be separated from Viverridae based on morphological features. Molecular data ( Yoder et al., 2003) showed close affinities with Cryptoprocta .
