Diagnosis. The genus Bolitogyrus Chevrolat can be recognized by the following characters: head with eyes very large and convex, nearly occupying entire lateral sides of head, two to four (rarely more) setiferous punctures between anterior and posterior frontal setiferous punctures along medial side of eye; first five antennomeres of antenna without fine and dense pubescence; posterolateral and posterior margins of pronotum at least slightly expanded and explanate, distinctly more strongly explanate in some Oriental species; elytra with dense asetose punctures, mixed with macrosetae arranged in a couple of rows; lateral face of hind tibia setose, but not spinose.
