Cyrtolabulus bekilyensis ( Giordani Soika, 1941) View in CoL ( Figs. 1–2 View FIGURE 1 View FIGURE 2 )
Labus bekilyensis Giordani Soika 1941: 185 View in CoL , ♀ —“ Madagascar: Bekily ” (female neotype AMNH). Diagnosis. Recognized by the following combination of characters: gena sinuate in front of occipital carina, pronotal carina weak and not pointing forward on humeri, propodeum entirely black and with an horizontal face roundly passing into vertical face, submarginal carina produced in a long and narrow spine, S2 as long as T 2 in lateral view, apical lamella of T2 pigmented and preceded by a thickening of the tergite, T3 apically simple and evenly punctate on whole surface, F11 of male pointed and reaching F8, female clypeus entirely ferruginous with coarse and dense punctures basally.
Material examined. NEOTYPE: ♀, labeled “Bekily / II-37 // PARATYPUS / Cyrtolabulus / sollicitus // [QR code] / AMNH_IZC 00418850 // Labus bekilyensis / Giordani Soika, 1941 / NEOTYPE / Des. Marco Selis 2023” ( AMNH). MADAGASCAR: Tuléar , Baie de St. Augustin , Onilahy-Fluss, 3.X.1996, leg. M. Madl, 2♂ 1♀ ( NHMW); Tuléar, Baie de St. Augustin, Onilahy-Fluss, 19.V.1997, leg. M. Madl, 2♂ 1♀ ( NHMW).
Distribution. Madagascar: Toliara ( Giordani Soika 1941; Gusenleitner 2004, 2005) ( Fig. 12 View FIGURE 12 ).
Notes. Both in the original description ( Giordani Soika 1941) and in the subsequent designation of the lectotype ( Giordani Soika 1973) the type was stated to be deposited in MSNVE, but it was not found during the recent reorganization of the collection (cf. Dal Pos et al. 2022) and it is to be considered lost. Given the absence of a type and the strong similarity with the newly described C. parvulus , a neotype is designated for C. bekilyensis , in order to provide a standard of reference for this taxon. The neotype is a misidentified female paralectotype (labeled “ paratype ”) of C. sollicitus and coming from the original series of specimens collected by Seyrig in Bekily, deposited in AMNH and figured in Fig. 2c View FIGURE 2 .
Some of the specimens cited by Gusenleitner (2005) were examined and proved to belong in part to the newly described C. parvulus . The records provided by Gusenleitner (2004, 2005) are therefore omitted from the distribution map, unless when verified by reexamination of the specimens.
