( Figs. 21–26 View FIGURES 21–26 , 30 View FIGURES 29–30 , 34 View FIGURES 31–34 )
We give a supplemental description for the holotype of Chromatonotus elegantula , including the abdomen and genitalia.
Head with dark brown spots between the antennal insertions and the base of labrum, ocelli present ( Fig. 21 View FIGURES 21–26 ). Pronotum with uniform coloration ( Fig. 22 View FIGURES 21–26 ).Tergal modification present on the seventh abdominal segment in the form of a comb in the median region with spines ( Fig. 30 View FIGURES 29–30 ). Supranal plate developed and projected between the cerci, elongated and setose ( Fig. 23 View FIGURES 21–26 ). Subgenital plate asymmetrical; small styles inserted at the apex of the apical margin ( Fig. 24 View FIGURES 21–26 ). Left-phallomere hook-shaped, expanded apically ( Fig. 25 View FIGURES 21–26 ). Median sclerite enlarged apically with minute spinous formations near the apex ( Fig. 26 View FIGURES 21–26 ).
Type material. Male (Holotype, MNRJ), Brazil, Pernambuco, Caruaru, Fazenda Caruaru, elevation 900 m, IV/1972, Alvarenga coll.
Discussion. By examining the holotype of Chromatonotus elegantula , a tergal modification was observed only on the seventh abdominal segment. This modification is a character for Ischnoptera , which leads us to transfer C. elegantula to Ischnoptera and to propose Ischnoptera elegantula (R.S.Albuquerque, 1974) comb. nov.
