Ophthalmognathus tenorioae Fain and Goff, 1980: 506 , figs. 1–3; Goff 1983: 167. Holotype in BPBM, not examined; paratypes in RBINS, examined.

Type host: Nycticorax nycticorax hoactli Gmelin ( Pelecaniformes : Ardeidae ) from USA (Hawaii).

Diagnosis. Palp tarsus with 2 setae (Na-type) and solenidion; palp tibia without setae. Hypostomal setae n Na-type, m Db-type. Propodonotal shield absent but small network of lines on cuticle between sensillary bases present. Sensillae si SC-type, other idiosomal setae (including coxal setae) Db-type. Femur I with 6 setae, femur IV with 3 setae.

Host and distribution. Pelecaniformes (Ardeidae) : NycticOrax nycticOrax Linnaeus from Rwanda [Southern Prov., Butare] (Fain & Goff 1980).

Non-African host and distribution. ( Ardeidae ): NycticOrax nycticOrax hOactli (Gmelin) from Hawaii, USA (Fain & Goff 1980).
