Neophyllobius afyonensis sp. nov. ( Fig. 2)
Type materials. Holotype female, from litter under Populus sp. , Taşköprü place, Sultandaǧı district, Afyon, Turkey, 16.XI.2004, coll. M. Akyol.
Diagnosis: This species can be recognized by the following characters: femur I with four setae, femur II with three setae, tarsi I–IV bears two midventral setae, and f 1 as long or shorter than d 1.
Description (female). HOLOTYPE – Length of body (including gnathosoma) 325, width 234.
Gnathosoma. Length of gnathosoma 75. Infracapitulum with one pair of smooth setae medioventrally, length of this seta 21. Number of setae and solenidia on palpi (femur to tarsi): 2 1 3+1 2+2 eupathidia+1 ω.
Dorsum. Almost ovoid; striated on integument; 15 pairs of finely serrated dorsal setae, setting on tubercles. Seta d 1 the longest. Lengths of setae: vi = pdx = 69, ve= sce = e 2 = 64, sci = d 2 =59, c 1 149, c 2 107, d 1 165, e 1 133, f 1 91, f 2 48, h 1 = h 2 = 37.
Venter. With three pairs of smooth setae, dimensions of this setae: 1a 27, 3a 43, 4a 27; one pair of aggenital setae (ag) anterior to genital opening; one pair of genital setae (g) and three pairs of pseudanal setae (ps 1–3).
Legs. Length of legs (from base of femur to tip of tarsal claw): leg I 501, leg II 432, leg III 469, leg IV 496. Setal formula of leg segments (solenidia in parentheses) as follows: coxae 3 1 2 2, trochanters 1 1 1 1, femora 4 3 2 2, genua 1(+k) 1(+k) 1 1, tibiae 9 (φ) 8 (φ) 8 (φ) 7 (φ), tarsi 10 (ω) 10 (ω) 8 8. Tarsi I–IV with two midventral setae.
Male. Unknown.
Etymology. The species is named after the type locality, Afyon, Turkey.
Accession number MAN 03616/17
Remarks. This species is similar to N. tenuipilis Bolland, 1991 in that femur I with four setae, femur II with three setae, tarsi I–IV bearing two midventral setae, and f 1 as long as or shorter than d 1. However, N. afyonensis differs from N. tenuipilis in that setae d 1 longer than other dorsal setae, setae c 1 reaching bases of setae f 1, and dorsal body setae longer than N. tenuipilis .
