Material examined. UKRAINE: Ivano-Frankivsk Region: 1 ♂, Zhbyr , 8 km SW of Bogorodchany, 48.777922 N, 24.456837 E, 405 m, mixed forest, sweeping, 4.v.2013, leg. O. Varga ( SIZK) GoogleMaps .
Distribution. Europe; first record for Ukraine.
Taxonomical remark. A species with blackish face and yellowish inner orbits. It has lateral ocellus c. 1.3 × larger than its distance to eye; pronotum, mesoscutum except brown fronto-median spot and scutellum reddish; mesopleuron blackish; pterostigma hyaline (not dark as stated in Schwenke 1999: 93). This species runs to M. castellanus Schwenke, 1999 in his key for the declinans -group, but differs by the larger ocelli, blackish face and reddish mesoscutum.
