An Afrotropical species whose adults have been found on Primates : Cercopithecidae . Ixodes rageaui is a very rare parasite of humans.

Note: Ixodes rageaui was originally identified as Ixodes schillingsi . Guglielmone et al. (2014) listed Ixodes rageaui as having been described in 1957, but Doss and Anastos (1977) stated that the journal issue containing this description was published in 1958.
