A Neotropical species with a peculiar host profile because adult ticks have been found on Anura : Bufonidae, Crocodilia : Alligatoridae , Squamata : Boidae , Colubridae and Teiidae , Cingulata : Dasypodidae , and Carnivora : Canidae , while immature stages have been collected from Carnivora : Canidae , Rodentia : Cricetidae , Echimyidae and Sciuridae , and Didelphimorphia : Didelphidae ( Guglielmone & Robbins 2018, Dantas-Torres et al. 2019a). Amblyomma fuscum is a very rare parasite of humans.
