An Afrotropical species whose adults are usually found on Artiodactyla : Bovidae , while larvae and nymphs are commonly recovered from Lagomorpha : Leporidae , and Macroscelidea : Macroscelididae . All parasitic stages have been collected from Lagomorpha : Leporidae ; adults alone have been found on Artiodactyla : Bovidae and Suidae , Carnivora : Canidae and Felidae , and Perissodactyla : Equidae ; nymphs and larvae have been taken from Macroscelidea : Macroscelididae , and larvae alone from Galliformes : Phasianidae (Guglielmone et al. 2014, Horak et al. 2018). There are no records of Rhipicephalus exophthalmos causing human parasitism.
