11. Rhipicephalus bursa Canestrini and Fanzago, 1878 View in CoL .
A Palearctic species, all of whose parasitic stages are usually found on Artiodactyla : Bovidae , but they have also been collected from Mammalia (several orders). Adult ticks alone have been recovered from Accipitriformes : Accipitridae , Columbiformes : Columbidae , and Galliformes : Phasianidae ; nymphs and larvae have been found on Rodentia : Gliridae and Muridae ( Guglielmone & Robbins 2018, Pereira et al. 2018). Rhipicephalus bursa is a very frequent parasite of humans.

Note: redescriptions of Rhipicephalus bursa based on the view that this species occurs outside the Palearctic Region, as in Neumann (1897) , have not been included in the lists above. Zumpt (1942b) found that the progeny of a single female gave rise to individual specimens with striking morphological differences. Filippova (1997) does not include redescriptions of the nymph and larva of Rhipicephalus bursa published prior to the descriptions in Filippova (1981) and Filippova (1989), respectively. Estrada-Peña et al. (2017) state that Rhipicephalus bursa is in need of thorough redescription. A record of this species in Dahmani et al. (2019) from Senegal (Afrotropical Zoogeographic Region) requires confirmation.
