Members of this taxon are characterized by either poorly defined or well-demarcated idiosomal shields. Setae f2 absent or present. They possess five seta on the femurogenu (palp segment II) and usually six on the tibiotarsus. Palp tibiotarsus with subterminal pointed process and small teeth (=serrated edge) on ventral ridge or pointed process placed more proximally. Cheliceral setae present or absent. Trichobothria on tibiae IV present or lacking; often, but not always, replaced by a long simple tactile seta (lts) in a shallow alveolus. Leg tarsi III and IV often provided with long dorsoterminal setae ending distally into very tiny swollen knoblets (ks).
