Protoschmidtia foraminosa f. incrustans Czerniavsky, 1880 View in CoL
Protoschmidtia foraminosa f. incrustans Czerniavsky, 1880: 98 View in CoL
Described by Czerniavsky from Sebastopol, Crimea, approximate coordinates 44.62°N 33.5°E (syntypes ZIN-RAS 10962 and 11404). As this is the first mentioned forma it is here chosen as the nominotypical forma to be named P. foraminosa View in CoL f. foraminosa View in CoL . As indicated above we propose to merge the forma with the species Haliclona foraminosa ( Czerniavsky, 1880) View in CoL .
The present combination is a senior primary homonym of Protoschmidtia grimmi f. incrustans Czerniavsky, 1880: 102 . Even though this is currently assigned to the synonymy of Metschnikowia tuberculata Grimm, 1877 , the junior name must be replaced (ICZN art. 57.2). I propose Protoschmidtia czerniavskyi nom.nov., which is a junior synonym of Metschnikowia tuberculata Grimm, 1977 .
