Caloglossa ogasawaraensis Okamura
Børgesen 1933, p. 127. (as Caloglossa bombayensis Børgesen ), figs. 10, 11; Desikachary et al. 1998, Part II B, p. 254, fig. 72 A, B.
Distribution in India: Maharashtra (Malabar Hill, Mumbai).
Notes: The report of “ Caloglossa ogasawaraensis ” by Jose & Patel (1990a) from a freshwater river of Kerala was inadvertently omitted by Desikachary et al. (1998). Kamiya et al. (2016) based on detailed morphological and molecular studies have indisputably referred the Indian report of “ C. ogasawaraenis” (sensu Jose & Patel 1990a) from the river of Kerala to Caloglossa fluviatilis . Caloglossa bombayensis has long been regarded as a taxonomic synonym of C. ogasawaraensis ( Guiry & Guiry 2017) . Judging from the original figure of Børgesen (1933, fig. 10) showing numerous adventitious branches arising from the nodes in C. bombayensis and following the key provided by Kamiya et al. (2016), it appears that the Indian plants described as C. bombayensis may well be referrable to C. ogasawaraensis , as this species is currently circumscribed. However, molecular data on the Indian specimens from Mumbai are needed to confirm this suggestion.
