Alpinia odontonema K. Schum. View in CoL , Nachtr. Fl. Schutzgeb. Südsee 65 1905 (Basionym). Type: Papua New Guinea. Bismarck Mountains , F. R. R. Schlechter 1395 ( lectotype: designated by Smith, 36 (2): 277 1978, B n. v., assumed lost in the Second World War).

Alpinia brevituba Valeton View in CoL , Nova Guinea 8: 953 1913. Type: Indonesia. Papua: Hellwig Mountain, L. S. A. M. von Römer 1109 ( lectotype: designated here, BO! [ BO-0081536 ]).

Note.

As Valeton (1916) and Smith (1990 a) did not mention where the type was deposited, we designate the BO material as the lectotype.
