Xenovarta View in CoL lui sp. n.

(Plate I, Figure 1 View FIGURE 1 )

Length. Male: 8.3mm.

Dark bluish green with orange stripes (Plate I: A & B). Vertex, pronotum and scutellum with orange longitudinal stripes, two small black spots on either side of median line near apex of vertex, lateral area traversed by stripe continuing on pronotum and scutellum then on to clavus as median pair, pronotum with additional lateral stripe continuing on clavus as lateral stripe (Plate I: C). Median area of frontoclypeus, basal areas of clypellus and lora yellow (Plate I: D). Forewing dark bluish green except brown apex (Plate I: A & B). Ventral area of thorax, abdomen, and leg ochraceous.

Vertex acutely triangularly produced in front of eyes, about 2.5x as long as interocular width, 1.6x as long as pronotum (Plate I: C), lateral margins sharp, carinate (Plate I: B). Face longer than wide, frontoclypeus elongate and narrow, clypellus wider near apex than at base, not extending beyond genal curve (Plate I: D). Pronotum about 2x as wide as long, longer than vertex (Plate I: C). Scutellum slightly shorter than pronotum (Plate I: C). Forewing with four apical and two anteapical cells, inner anteapical cell open behind (Plate I: E). Male segment X weakly sclerotized, long, with one strongly sclerotized and apically bifid process (Plate I: F & G).

Male genitalia. Pygofer side elongate, base wide, apex narrow, middle of dorsal margin and ventral margin strongly inflexed, with sclerotised area, apex with subtriangular membranous lobe ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 A). Valve fused to subgenital plates the latter with uniseriate row of macrosetae, with pair of sclerotized lobes dorsally ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 B). Style with lobe in middle, subapical lobe discernable but not well developed, apophysis distally rugulose ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 C). Connective narrowly linear, stem half as long as arms, quadrate, arms in contact with each other ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 D). Aedeagus apex narrow, with pair of subapical processes, gonopore large, apical ( Figs 1 View FIGURE 1 E, 1F).

Material examined. Holotype: male, China, Yunnan Prov., Lushui County, Chenggan Town, 1013m, 6.VI.2011, coll. Lu Lin ( NWAFU).

Remarks. This species is similar to Xenovarta longicornis , but can be distinguished by the underdeveloped subapical lobe of the style ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 C) and by the aedeagus with a pair of subapical processes ( Figs 1 View FIGURE 1 E, 1F).

Etymology. This species is named for our colleague Lu Lin who collected the specimen.
