Ehrmann & Borer, 2015 recognized Hierodula brachynota Wang & Dong, 1993 from China as a junior synonym of Rhombomantis fusca . Wang et al. (2021) proposed a new species in this genus from Indochina, bringing the total number of species in Rhombomantis to five. This genus has been recorded in China, Nepal, India, Myanmar, Pakistan, Laos, Malaysia, and Thailand.
