Generitype of Cynara Linnaeus (vide Green, Prop. Brit. Bot.: 179. 1929).

Current name: Cynara cardunculus L. ( Asteraceae ).

Note: Although Wiklund cited an earlier (1590) Tabernaemontanus work as the place of publication of the lectotype figure, the pagination given by Linnaeus makes it clear that he had used a later (1664) work. Wiklund’s intention was, however, entirely clear and this is treated as a minor, correctable error.
