Ecological category. Epigeic.

Habitat. Limicolous, in moist, damp habitats, river, stream or pond banks.

Zoogeographical distribution type. Peregrine.

Distribution in Croatia. One of the most common earthworm species in Croatia, spread all over the territory in all three regions. Szüts (1919): Josipdol; Zicsi (1968): Krka, Plitvička jezera, Hrvatska Kostajnica, Jankovac (Papuk); Rucner & Rucner (1971): Rozga; Karaman (1972): Kampor (Rab), Pag, rijeka, Split, Kosa (Split), Plitvička jezera, Solin, Martinščica (Cres), Žrnovnica; Šapkarev (1979): Batina, Beli Manastir, Kozjak (Plitvice) , Novska, Omiš, Plitvička jezera, Split, Zagreb, Osijek; Mršić (1985, 1986, 1987b): Baška, Islam Latinski, Čeralije, Pazin; Hackenberger: Stara Drava (Osijek), Kopačevo, Križnica, Petrijevci, Turkovići, Potok Musulinski, Jankovac (Papuk).
