Etymology:—Referring to the aquatic habitat and spherical conidia.
Saprobic on submerged decaying wood in freshwater habitats. Sexual morph: Undetermined. Asexual morph: Colonies on natural substratum effuse, scattered, dark brown to black. Mycelium partly immersed, partly superficial, septate, branched, smooth, sub-hyaline to light brown. Conidiophores macronematous, mononematous, solitary, cylindrical, straight or slightly flexuous, mid to dark brown, septate, unbranched. Conidiogenous cells monoblastic, determinate, integrated, terminal, subcrylindrical, brown, truncate at the apex. Conidia acrogenous, solitary, subglobose or turbinate, pale olive green to dark brown, muriform, dictyoseptate, smooth-walled, with cylindrical appendages
