Ammophila leclercqi MENKE ( Fig. 55 View Figs 55-65 , 91 View Figs 85-109 , 149 View Figs 149-160 , 197 View Figs 195-197 )
Ammophila yarrowi LECLERCQ 1961: 211 , ♀, junior primary homonym of Ammophila yarrowi
CRESSON 1867. Holotype: ♀, Spain: Badajoz Province: Merida (BMNH), examined. Ammophila leclercqi MENKE 1964: 154 . Substitute name for Ammophila yarrowi LECLERCQ 1961 .
M a t e r i a l e x a m i n e d: Holotype: ♀ ( BMNH).
R e c o g n i t i o n The female of Ammophila leclercqi has a gastral apex black without a metallic shine, the supra-antennal lamellate projection absent, the mesothoracic venter not prominent anteriorly and the episternal sulcus ending at the level of scrobe. Additionally, the arolia are well developed and the claws have a distinct basal tooth (50×). The female of A. leclercqi is similar to A. hungarica but differs in having a short and thick petiole and tergum I.
Maybe this is an abnorme variation of A. hungarica .
D e s c r i p t i o n ♀: 17 mm. Black except tergum I (except dorsally), gastral segment II (dorsoapically black) and III (basally) red. Clypeus, pronotal lobe, round patch near mesopleural suture, propodeum posterolaterally and mid- and hindcoxa dorsolaterally covered with appressed silvery setae. Erect setae on head and forelegs black, those on thorax and propodeum white. Clypeus slightly elongate, steplike near free margin ( Fig. 55 View Figs 55-65 ), disk convex ( Fig. 91 View Figs 85-109 ). Pronotal collar dull, without transverse striae, scutum also dull, finely, transversely striate anteriorly, obliquely striate posteriorly, admedian line broad, well developed. Scutellum shiny on anterior half, coarsely punctate, longitudinally ridged and punctate on posterior half. Propodeal enclosure obliquely striate and all covered with erect setae. Mesopleuron dull, sparsely punctate anteriorly, obliquely striate posteriorly. Petiole short and thick ( Fig. 197 View Figs 195-197 ). Pronotal collar laterally: Fig. 149 View Figs 149-160 . Flagellomere I: II=1.6; length of petiole = hindtarsomere I.
