Type species: Pediopsis garuda Distant, 1916 .
Diagnosis. Differing from other Macropsini as follows: body form stout; clypellus dilated apically; striations on pronotum distinctly oblique; fore wing with 2 (in nominate subgenus P. ( Pedionis )) or 3 (in subgenus P. ( Thyia )) preapical cells, and veins usually marked with whitish spots; hind tibia with 8 macrosetae on AD row; male pygofer tapering to point caudally, usually with small spinelike or acute tip; dorsal connective variously armed, usually with slender process twisted dorsally from bulbous base.
