Type Locality: Ethiopia, bamboo forest near Abera, east of Lake Abaya, 3300 m.
Vernacular Names: Bale Mountains Vervet.
Distribution: Ethiopia, highlands east of Lakes Abiata, Shalla and Zway.
Conservation: CITES – Appendix II; IUCN – Data Deficient as Cercopithecus aethiops djamdjamensis .
Discussion: A distinctive species, first recognized (as a subspecies) as distinct from aethiops by Dandelot and Prévost (1972); raised to species rank by Kingdon (1977).
