Type Locality: Chile, Valparaíso Prov., Lake Quintero.
Vernacular Names: Large Long-clawed Akodont.
Synonyms: Chelemys microtis ( Philippi 1900) ; Chelemys niger (Philippi 1872) ; Chelemys scalops (Gay 1847) .
Distribution: C Chile, coastal region from Coquimbo Prov. south to Cautín Prov.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Tamayo and Frassinetti (1980) listed delfini (see above account) as a subspecies of C. megalonyx .
