Cyclocephala scarabaeina Perty, 1830: 46 Diagnosis. Tomarus ebenus can be recognized by the antennal club subequal in length to antennomeres 2–7; clypeus trapezoidal (base 2 times wider than apex); clypeal teeth widely separated and transverse; frontoclypeal tubercles transverse; pronotum with rounded tubercle and small fovea; pronotal punctation small and sparse; males with inner claw of the protarsi enlarged and bifid; protibia tridentate, without basal denticles; apex of metatibia dentate and with 6–7 spinules; parameres wide at the base, strongly narrowed at apical third and dilated at apex ( Figs. 6–7 View FIGURES 5–8 ).
Locality records ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 5–8 ). 2 males and 3 females from FSCA and UNSM . 2 specimens from CMNC . Loreto (7): Explorama Inn, 25 mi NE Iquitos; Iquitos .
Temporal distribution. February (2), July (1), October (4).
Distribution. Mexico, Guatemala, Belize ( Ratcliffe et al. 2013), Honduras, Nicaragua ( Ratcliffe & Cave 2006), Costa Rica, Panama ( Ratcliffe 2003), Colombia ( López-García et al. 2015), Venezuela ( Escalona & Joly 2006), Trinidad, Guiana, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil (Endr̂di 1985), Dominica, Guadeloupe, Martinique, and St. Lucia ( Ratcliffe & Cave 2015).
Natural history. The examined specimens were found at about 100 m elevation in the Amazon region.
