Examined type specimen: Turkey, Smyrna, without further data, collection J. Weise MNB .
Examined specimen: Turkey, 80 km NW Izmir, W Karaburun, 440 m, 4.IV.2006, leg. V. Assing, 1 ex. SMNS .
Remarks: This is the only species of Laena in the western Palaearctic Region with extremely reduced eyes, each consisting only of a single ocella.
Published locality: Smyrna ( Schuster 1916).
