Bambiraptor feinbergi

The maxilla of “ Bambiraptor ” is robustly built and subrectangular, and the antorbital fossa in this taxon was initially illustrated as a highly complex feature by Burnham et al. (2000). However, the bone surface of the maxilla in “ Bambiraptor ” is heavily cracked, making morphological features difficult to discern. The promaxillary fenestra is large, ovoid and overall similar in morphology to that of Deinonychus . This bone is anteriorly bordered by the border of the antorbital fossa. The maxillary fenestra in this taxon sits posterior to the promaxillary fenestra. Several large recesses also exist in the antorbital fossa of “ Bambiraptor ” that may represent additional pneumatic openings for the promaxillary sinus and branches of the maxillary antrum.
