Remarks. Ctenocheloides differs from Ctenocheles , the only other axiidean genus with pectinate cheliped fingers, by the absence of a projecting rostrum, the well-developed corneas and the shorter and less robust fingers of the major cheliped. Pleopod 1 of the male is a single tapering article whereas in Ctenocheles it is 2-articled. Pleopod 2 of the male and pleopods 1 and 2 of the female do not differ from those of Ctenocheles . Males of Ctenocheloides attenboroughi and C. almeidai are not known. The pleopods of Kiictenocheloides nomurai are similar in shape to those of the new species except that Komai (2013) stated pleopod 1 of the male was 2-articled. This discovery of a fourth species suggests that this group may be widespread in tropical seas.
