Plagaedessa nigrovittata sp. n.

( Figs. 33–37 View FIGURES 33–37 , 48–49, 52)

Etymology. Name refers to the black stripes on legs.

Material examined (n=8): Holotype male. BRASIL, Rondônia: ♂ Ouro Preto do Oeste. VIII.80. A. Domingos. ( MNRJ).

Paratypes. FRENCH GUIANA, Kourou : 1 ♀, Petit Saut. MT la fornee / 28.IV.1990 / F. Geay ( MPEG) ; Ouanary : 1 ♀, 1990 / F. Geay ( MNHN) ; BRASIL, Pará: 1 ♀, [Parauapebas], Serra Norte, Manganês / 17.VI.1985 / Márcio Zanuto ( MPEG) ; Roraima: 1 ♀, Rio Uraricoera, Ilha de Maraca. 18–28.VII.1987. J. A. Rafael; L. S. Aquino; J. F. Vidal; Elias Binda. Armadilha de luz. ( INPA) ; Mato Grosso: 1 ♂ 1 ♀, Cotrigaçu. 08.XII.2009. Barreto M. R. sp 80 ( INPA) ; BOLÍVIA, La Paz: 1 Ƌ, Ixiamas Multiford BioExpl 1921–1922. M. Lopez Collector ( NMNH) .

Measurements. Total length: 15.1–17.6 mm; abdominal width: 7.7–8.8 mm; head length: 1.6–2.1 mm; head width: 2.9–3.1 mm; antennomeres length: I: 0.9–1.0; II: 1.4–1.7; III: 1.5–1.7; IV: 3.4–3.6; V: 4.5; pronotum length: 2.9–3.6 mm; pronotum width: 8.9–9.9 mm.

Diagnosis. Pygophore with posterolateral angles almost straight in dorsal view ( Fig. 33 View FIGURES 33–37 ). Superior processes of genital cup shallow and short, not reaching the apices of anterior projections of parameres ( Fig. 34 View FIGURES 33–37 ). Parameres, anterior projection long and subtriangular, reaching the diaphragma; lateral projection short, directed to the posterolateral angles ( Fig. 34 View FIGURES 33–37 ). Gonocoxites 8 with distal margin more projected and acuminate than P. celSa and P. DiStanti , but less than P. maranhenSiS .

Discussion. The male of this species is quite peculiar because of the remarkable form of the parameres which are the most developed among the species, almost reaching dorsal rim. Posterolateral angles are less developed than in P. celSa and P. DiStanti . Median excavation of the ventral rim shallower than in the other species.

Distribution ( Fig. 52 View FIGURE 52 ). FRENCH GUIANA: Kourou, Ouanary; BRAZIL: Roraima, Pará, Mato Grosso, Rondônia; BOLIVIA: La Paz.

FIGURES 44–51. Dorsal and ventral view of Plagaedessa . 44– 45 P. celsa; 46– 47 P. distanti; 48– 49 P. nigrovittata; 50– 51 P. maranhensis. (Scale = 5mm).
